Política de Privacidad
Effective date: February 17, 2026
Este documento solo está disponible en inglés. La versión en inglés es la versión legalmente vinculante.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Metanoia (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the Metanoia mobile application (the “App”) and website (the “Site”), collectively the “Service.” By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Metanoia is designed to minimize data collection. We do not:
- Require you to create an account or provide an email address
- Collect your name, phone number, or mailing address
- Track your location
- Use advertising identifiers or serve ads
- Sell, rent, or trade any data to third parties
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores the following data on your device using MMKV (a high-performance key-value storage library). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party:
- User preferences (selected reflection lens, text size, notification time)
- Cached daily content (readings, reflections, glossary entries) for offline access, automatically purged after seven (7) days
- Ask feature chat messages, which are stored temporarily and automatically cleared at the start of each new calendar day
- A locally generated, anonymous device identifier used solely for rate-limiting the Ask feature
3.2 Data Transmitted to Our Servers
When the App fetches daily content (readings, reflections, glossary), it makes anonymous API requests to our backend hosted on Supabase. No user identifiers, device identifiers, or personal information are attached to these requests.
3.3 Ask Feature (AI Chat)
When you use the Ask feature, the following data is transmitted to our server to generate a response:
- Your message text
- Recent conversation history from the current session (up to the last ten messages)
- Contextual metadata about the current day's readings (reading references, reflection title, glossary terms, liturgical season) — no personal data
- An anonymous device identifier for rate-limiting purposes only
Your messages are forwarded to a third-party AI provider (see Section 4) to generate a response. We do not store your chat messages on our servers. Messages exist only in transit and in your device's local storage. We retain only an anonymous count of messages per device identifier for rate-limiting enforcement; this count record contains no message content and is automatically purged after fourteen (14) days.
3.4 Subscription Data
If you subscribe to Metanoia Premium, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat as a subscription management intermediary. Through RevenueCat, we receive:
- An anonymous subscriber identifier generated by RevenueCat
- Your entitlement status (active, expired, etc.)
- Product purchased and subscription period
We do not receive or have access to your payment method, billing address, Apple ID, or any financial information. Apple's privacy policy governs all payment processing.
3.5 Push Notifications
If you opt in to push notifications, Apple provides us with a device token used solely to deliver daily reading reminders. No other data is associated with this token. You may revoke notification permissions at any time through your device settings or within the App.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each processes data only as necessary to provide its function and is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) — Backend hosting and database. Stores daily liturgical content. Does not receive personal data.
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — Subscription entitlement verification. Receives an anonymous subscriber ID from Apple.
- Google (Gemini API) (Google LLC) — Primary AI provider for daily content generation and Ask feature chat responses. Receives message content and liturgical context as described in Section 3.3. Google's API data usage policies apply.
- Anthropic (Claude API) (Anthropic, PBC) — Fallback AI provider used when the primary provider is unavailable. Receives the same data as described for Google above. Anthropic's API usage policy applies.
We do not share data with any other third parties, and we do not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
5. Data Retention
- On-device content cache: Automatically deleted after 7 days
- Chat messages (on-device): Automatically cleared daily
- Rate-limiting records (server): Anonymous message counts purged after 14 days
- Push notification tokens: Retained while notifications are enabled; removed when you disable notifications or uninstall the App
We do not maintain user profiles, accounts, or any long-term personal data on our servers.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Because we do not collect personal data or maintain user accounts, traditional data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) do not apply in the usual sense. However:
- You may clear all locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the App.
- You may disable push notifications through your device settings.
- You may manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, and you believe we hold any personal data about you, please contact us and we will respond to your request within the timeframes required by applicable law.
8. Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit (TLS encryption) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
